THE LOCATION:Private Residence, McLean, VA (2000)
THE PROJECT:To create a mural for a connecting alcove between the
kitchen and the dining room. On one side of the alcove was a pantry
with double doors and the other side had half height double doors.
Not a lot of wall space. The client wanted a wine, gourmet theme or
something that matched their interests.
THE SOLUTION: My concept was to create a faux finish
for the doors and the walls that warmed up the space. My second
concept was to create a dimensional canvas that would imitate a
keepsake memory board with items from their lives apart and together.
The trompe l'oeil work works perfectly in the spot. With the large
amount of entertaining they do, it provides the perfect ice breaker
and conversation piece for the host and hostess.
